DISCOVER CHARCOAL WITH SOUL: PREMIERING CHRISTINA’S NEW SELECTION OF WOOD-FIRED CREATIONS AND LUSCIOUS LIBATIONS

Combining flavour with fire, Christina’s at Mondrian Singapore Duxton introduces a new lunch and dinner menu by Chef Kenny Huang to complement great vibes, wines and cocktails with a kick from day to night

Singapore…..Christina’s is shaking things up with a new menu by Mondrian’s Chef Kenny Huang of Asian and Mediterranean influenced dishes cooked over fire and embers to absolute perfection on the Josper Grill.

Christina’s has been quietly winning fans since Mondrian Singapore Duxton’s launch as a stylishly laid-back coffee to cocktail space that changes mood from day to night. Located on the ground floor of Mondrian Singapore Duxton, Christina’s is a place to kick back, a haven where the creative and the open-minded can gather from breakfast until late.

By day, Christina’s beautiful light-filled space is perfect for catch-ups and long lunches, featuring the ceiling art installation ‘Crystalized’ by New York-based studio SoftLab and part of the Mondrian Singapore Duxton permanent art collection. By night, Christina’s shifts mood and vibe; dress up or down and assemble your entourage for some night moves over a grill-inspired feast that spills over into evening.

Mornings at Christina’s are all about coffee, served by an award-winning barista team using a Slayer coffee machine and signature blends by Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee, served alongside breakfast favourites including Chili Crab Scrambled Eggs and spiced Shakshouka with fresh flatbread.

As the day moves on, Mondrian Singapore Duxton’s award-winning Chef Kenny Huang has been given free rein to showcase his culinary magic with a new lunch and dinner menu rooted in his family story that highlights his passion for cooking with fire and his gift for blending Mediterranean nuances with Asian flavours and influences. His career has taken him to the Michelin-starred La Credenza in Torino, Italy, where he learnt to speak fluent Italian, and most recently as Bottega di Carna’s Chef de Cuisine at Mondrian, where he continues to lead the team.

Singaporean native Chef Kenny’s grandfather was a fisherman in the waters surrounding Malaysia and his father was a chef aboard an oil rig, where he traveled the world from the Indian Ocean to Europe and Brazil. He remembers “my father would bring back spices and sweets from his adventures cooking for the rig crews around the world, and we would gather friends and family for barbecues that exploded with a fusion of these flavours and our local ingredients, which I found myself reflecting on when working on the recipes for this menu.”

Lunch or dinner at Christina’s is also a family affair, with a menu designed for sharing over a drink or three in the warm and relaxed space. Smaller social plates are the perfect accompaniment to a glass of wine with friends, and then the Josper magic unfolds.

Chef Kenny’s particular highlights include a decadent wood-fired mac & cheese made with cheddar, parmesan and mascarpone cheeses, the standout king prawns served with a chili, coriander and lime sauce and finished in flames at the table, and the French 40 days cornfed chicken served with Jerusalem artichokes. Also, not to be missed are the crisp-skinned sustainable seabass served with a fresh fennel, rocket and olive salad, and the tasty wagyu sando with yakiniku sauce and house pickles.

Desserts are also sweet temptation, with smoked yuzu caramel and sea salt churros and the moreish grilled pineapple with smoked ice cream and coconut. Fight with your friends for the last bite.

An engaging wine list and dangerously delicious cocktails are on hand to compliment the new menu. Christina’s signatures include La Fresa, with Orientalist gunpowder gin, strawberry and moscati d’asti and the nostalgic Solero Daiquiri, a rum-infused trip down memory lane.

As Chef Kenny explains, “when creating the new menu at Christina’s, I drew on the tastes of my youth, refined through my years working in Singapore and Europe. For me, the perfect recipe for the table at Christina’s is food, fun and family, and generous dishes you can keep coming back to.”
