Transformers, Nerf and My Little Pony Immersive Zones toat ‘Family-Focused’ HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens

Let your kids’ imagination run wild with The Superdudes, Spartan Kids Challenges, and Strider Adventure Zone

Rugby Singapore announced today a much-enhanced family-friendly programme at this year’s HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens with the confirmation of The Transformers, Nerf, and My Little Pony activations as the main attractions of its packed kids’ entertainment schedule in and around the National Stadium.

Taking place on 28-29 April, the two-day extravaganza will ensure there is as much fun and excitement to be had for the younger members of the family as the hardcore rugby fans through the highly immersive activity zones of these three most loved Hasbro brands.

Leveraging on the precinct spaces at the Singapore Sports Hub, The Transformers, Nerf, and My Little Pony activations will take place at the 100PLUS Promenade encircling the National Stadium, taking the youngsters on an unforgettable adventure through their respective immersive zones.

With a focus on the theme of the eternal battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons, the Transformer zone will offer a Decepticons target practice, photo opportunities with Transformers cutouts, as well as puzzles and craft activities. The zone will adopt a metallic look, alluding to the strength of the machines in Transformers, and utilise lighting to create colour and depth, so as to create an immersive experience for all.

Rather like the game of rugby, the Nerf-themed activities are based around team play, where participants can form a team and battle it out at the Battle Zone. At the same time, the activities also encourage active play, where participants can test their precision and accuracy at the Blaster Testing Facility.

My Little Pony will take young fans to Equestria, where they will get the chance to meet characters such as Pinky Pie, Twilight Sparkles, Rainbow Dash, and Apple Jack.

The first time in Singapore, the immersive zones provide the perfect check-in and Instagrammable opportunity to show-off to friends and family.

The Superdudes

Joining them will be funnest international children’s group, The Superdudes, who will engage the ticket-holding young fans in the promenade with performances packed with crowd pleasing songs like Super Thumbs Up.

Stevie Nicholson, the creator of the Superdudes, a funny and quirky children’s book that is widely acclaimed to capture the imagination of children in a playful and engaging way, said:

“I’m delighted to be coming to Singapore with my friends Pencil Pirate, Flutterby, and the cheeky Bubble Trouble. We are going to rock the HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens this year. Rather like the Superdudes, the super fit rugby players on the field are also multi-talented, passionate, determined, and creative. Between us, we intend to entertain and inspire the next generation so they know that absolutely anyone and anything can be super-duper, as long as you believe in yourself, and never give up on your goals.”

Spartan Singapore

Spartan Singapore will bring a sample of its critically-acclaimed fun challenges for the young rugby fans in and around the stadium to be active, set goals and celebrate accomplishing them, and most of all, enjoy themselves. The participants will get a chance to try out some of Spartan’s signature obstacles, which will inspire the same sense of adventure and resilience as the popular adult programmes in Singapore and around the globe. They will have two activation areas on site, at the promenade for ticket holders, and at OCBC Square for members of the public where they can win fun prizes.

Strider Adventure Zone

Parents with kids between the age of 18 months and five years old can take their kids to the Strider Adventure Zone, where the ultimate cuteness on two wheels to little ones zooming at fast speeds in an enclosed space will be on display. Situated at the Promenade, children with ticket holding guardians get an opportunity to try Strider bikes, and be exposed them to the use of a balance bike, learn how to master steering, develop hand-eye coordination, build confidence and fitness. Strider bikes will be provided to toddlers. At OCBC Square, non-ticket holders whose kids are between the ages of 2 and 5 can participate at half-hourly races on Saturday for a chance to gain instant access to the Singapore Sevens! On Sunday, Strider Balance Bike owners will be competing in a race in the afternoon.

Other Traditional Favourites

No family carnival is complete without face-painting, balloon arts, magic shows, and arts & crafts to light up the faces of our stars of tomorrow. Visitors to the Singapore Sevens will find these activities at the Fun Zone throughout the two-day fiesta. What’s more, there is a chill zone with beanbags for parents and guardians of young children, and national flag manicure and pedicure booths for those feeling extra patriotic.

David Lim, Executive Chairman and Managing Director of Rugby Singapore, commented:

“We are delighted with the high quality packed kids’ entertainment programme at this year’s HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens. Our event is the biggest celebration of rugby in Southeast Asia, and in just two short years we have firmly established a reputation as the Family Sevens of the world series. We recently submitted our bid to host the tournament for four more years, and we want the world to bring their family to come to Singapore every year so they can enjoy wonderful family time at the Singapore Sevens and let our city surprise them with our food, tourist attractions, and cultural heritage.”
